There have been countless studies linking a healthy diet and moderate exercise to better overall health. Information gleaned from a recent Swedish study also suggests that diet and the inclusion of fish reduces the chances that an individual will develop rheumatoid arthritis.
A mysterious autoimmune disease with no known cure, individuals stricken with rheumatoid arthritis often experience extreme pain, swelling and decreased mobility in their joints. As the disease progresses, individuals with rheumatoid arthritis are prone to developing other adverse medical conditions including infections, depression and blood borne cancers.
Medical researchers still don’t know why some people develop rheumatoid arthritis and there is no known cure. Researchers in Sweden, however, recently discovered that eating just one serving of fish per week may be beneficial in reducing the likelihood of developing the disease by nearly 30 percent.
In addition to diet and the inclusion of omega-3 fatty acids which are primarily derived from fish, researchers caution women and men to avoid smoking and to take preventative measures to guard against the development of gum disease as both are known to increase the chances that an individual will develop rheumatoid arthritis.
Individuals who are diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and other similar autoimmune diseases often suffer tremendous pain and may qualify to receive social security disability benefits. The process of applying for such disability benefits, however, is often arduous and complex. For these reasons, Missouri residents seeking to apply for SSD benefits would be wise to seek the advice and assistance of an attorney.
